Suppression of stereotypes

Stereotypes are beliefs regarding the traits, attributes, and behaviors of members of certain groups. They are not only beliefs, but also theories about how and why certain attributes go together. Furthermore, stereotypes can have both negative and positive connotations, although it is more likely to meet negative ones. Stereotypes might be targeted to any social group and, indeed, the content of social stereotypes have changed across time and geographical region.

Dealing with the financial crisis

Prior research and theoretical models suggest that the current global economic crisis could have negative impacts on population mental health, although some studies show that the recession could cause positive effects too. In that context, this work aims to understand the individual, community and societal effects of the global financial crisis examining evidences from these various contradictory approaches. The analyses focus on the macrosystem, esosystem and microsystem. The focus will be on the coping strategies and resilience factors that allow some individuals to better cope in case of economic downturn.

The mystical flights: the Shangqing tradition by Daniele Ricci

The ecstatic flight is a recurring theme in many cultures throughout the world, the present work examines, in Chinese case, the Shangqing tradition born in the second half of the 4th century with the revelation of Yang Xi, and regarded as the leading Daoist school until the Song Dynasty. the Shangqing (Highest Clarity) movement is considered as a bridge linking the old Daoist practices to the modern tradition. Its practical aspect is indeed concerned with techniques of meditation and visualization, which are inherited from Han Dynasty and developed further.
